Southern Ballet Theater, formerly Gwinnett Dance Ensemble is a non-profit organization established in June 1991. The company consists of professional and pre-professional dancers. SBT’s mission is to educate, promote dance, and increase appreciation for the arts by exciting audiences in the Southeast and metro Atlanta communities. Southern Ballet Theatre’s strong commitment to community service is evidenced by its active participation in school performances and demonstrations, art festivals, and community and charity events.

SBT is known for its interpretive, colorful, classical productions as well as its innovative and diverse repertory performances. SBT’s repertory includes works by Nicolas Pacana, Gary Taylor, Tammy Adams Westafer, Nancy Gell, Marie Roberts, Amy Orr, Jeanne Deitrich, Phyllis Allen, Robert J. Hilbun, Brandon Chitwood and Alicia Chitwood. Full-length works have included Cinderella, Coppelia, Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin.

SBT is an Honor Company of the Southeast Regional Ballet Festival/ Regional Dance America, a position held by only 25 pre-professional dance companies in the ten-state Southeastern Region.
